Tableau 10.2 – New Features in Beta!

On 19 Jan 2017 Ashley Bass the senior product manager from Tableau announced about Tableau 10.2 Beta version release and i am really glad to share some important points from it.

Lets have a look what’s we have in this new release.


  1. Sophisticated geospatial and statistical analysis.

Spatial file connector

Leverage your spatial files directly in Tableau. Tableau now connects to ESRI shapefiles, KML and MapInfo file types. Now it’s even easier to do custom geospatial analysis.


Maps data additions

Tableau now added 2nd level administrative data (county-equivalents) for Austria, Benin, Burkina Faso, Colombia, Ethiopia, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Indonesia, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Liberia, Malaysia, Mali, Myanmar, Nigeria, Norway, Philippines, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Switzerland, Tanzania, Uganda, Togo, and Zambia. It means now you can drill on 2nd level for all those countries Additionally, Tableau updated Australia LGAs, Indian districts and postal codes, New Zealand postal codes, Saudi Arabian cities, and US counties.

It will really help for those organization who have footprint in all over globe.
